Maybe we can find what can break the feeling of #BlueMonday
We are just human, we put too much blame on ourselves and on others
Life is what we make it.
Agreed?

So far so good with the New Years resolution
On this blog post >>> New Years Resolutions everything is explained in full.
Admittedly, I have only actually had 3 days at work in which to spend money, or get a taxi etc. But still, I did manage to get through the days. It will get harder as the leftovers from Christmas diminish, and the holidays I have will be used up.
We have just come back from a fantastic trip to Brighton, the cost of a coach trip, with a hotel stay and meals included would have been the same prices as getting train tickets from where we live to go there. So all is good, we did go to the theatre to watch "Strangers on a train" recommend you go see it. Also some good walking completed so all good for the exercise, if made up though with the meals.
Happy that I have been able to stay good so far. Do want to get back on the no sugar regime. Which should be interesting for the future. Will I have the resolve? I honestly think not, but it would make our lass happy so that is a strong pull to get it sorted.
Now for some music. I was going to go with Brighton Rocks by Queen but it is not my favourite, so as this is my blog. I went for "Don't stop me now" As always we love a cover here. so here is one by Paper Rockets. enjoy

My first step towards saving £1,600 this year
On this blog post >>> New Years Resolutions everything is explained in full.
Now yesterday was the first proper test of my resolve, as I had been off work the first 3 days of the year (always makes it easy to keep a resolution if you are not in a position to break it).
So as the rain came down, not heavy but the wet you through rain, I could have easily given in and booked a taxi. But I kept my resolve and one rain sodden 3 mile walk later I had made it to work and had saved the money I would have spent on a taxi.
I also managed to get through the day at work without buying any food or drinks. So a complete day without spending money, just the rest of the year to go now. On the not buying food front, now that was made easier with the leftovers from Christmas, and taking a tube of pringles in with my sandwiches. Just will the same resolve stand scrutiny when there are no treats and the canteen is calling your name.
Anyways, enough of me blathering on, it's time for music, and talking about "calling your name" how about where "The streets have no name" I am a sucker for these multi layered videos and here is another great version

New Years Resolutions
It is the 3rd of January and just how many of you have kept to your resolutions?
Well when I link this to my twitter poll we will find out. (twitter poll at the bottom of this post)
I have, well let's correct that I had 3, I now have 2 left. The first was to cut out sugar all together, which I found impossible especially thanks to my love of a good cuppa of tea. But the keeping of number 2 and 3 I hope will more than make up for it.
2, be more active, stop taking the bus and the taxi when I could walk (this I will be logging here >>> link FAT BOY SLIMMING PAGE ) of the two most prolific things I do in my week, which is go to work and go to college I could save well over 15 pounds a week and walk around 20 miles a week at around 70 calories a mile burned that would be 1,400 calories a week extra burned.
My 3rd resolution though is to save money and that links in very well with the 2nd resolution as I squander lots of extra money on fares I need not spend and just walk, and the biggest killer of all spending money on sweets and junk food at work. So from now on I am not going to buy any food or drinks while at work. Simply take in a packed lunch, which is normally a portion from the night befores lunch as I need to cut down portions. and a pint glass so I can get water instead of fizzy drinks and sugary coffees from the vending machines.
So I will be putting £3 away a day from everyday I would have been in work (I work 4 days 2 x 8 hour shifts 2 x 12 hour shifts) so on average 18 days a month depending on the rota. so by not spending at work that has saved £54 a month
Next is the Bus fares and taxi fares. Currently I would get 2 taxis a week to work on average (£4 a ride, £8 a week, £32 a month) As for Buses I get on average 4 a week at £1.70 a ride which makes £6.80 a week rounded up to £28 a month
Lastly I am getting rid of a whim which is having a go on the lottery, we all play for that fantastical chance of having enough money to change our life forever, but isn't that as rare as someone finding you to say "You have inherited millions from a relation you never knew about" I probably spend £20 a month on the lottery which is just short of the £25 minimum prize you get which I haven't won for the past 3 months. So by not spending the money I have a mini win each month by just holding onto the money. £20 a month saved
So in total by doing 3 simple things, stop spending at work, walking instead of catching lifts, and not playing the lottery I would save in total £134 a month over a year that is £1,608 which is bloody spooky because the 16th August is my birthday....................
Now you need to ensure you see the rewards so for me I will on the 1st of the month put to one side, the £134, it should help me see the reward first and also if anything help me stop spending the money as I won't have ready access to it.
Over the coming months I will keep you updated as to how it goes and if I can find any other ways of saving money.
Now for a bit of music.

The Proclaimers - 500 Miles (Cover)
I think sometimes you can go for the most obvious cover for a particular song. Does it detract from the original, I will let you decide, why not leave a comment about your thoughts. Too me 500 miles has always been a proclamation of love, and whether it be done upbeat with enthusiasm or soulful and with passion, the lyrics say it all. You don't just go to the end of the street but to the end of the earth for the one you love.
----------
----------
"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" is a song written and performed by Scottish duo The Proclaimers, and first released as the lead single from their 1988 album Sunshine on Leith. The song reached number 11 in the UK Singles Chart on its initial release, and it has since become their most popular song worldwide, initially becoming a number 1 hit in Iceland, before reaching number 1 in both Australia and New Zealand in early 1989.[2]
In 1993, following its appearance in the American film Benny & Joon, the song was released in North America and many other countries around the world, it reached the top five on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Hot 100 charts.[3] In 2007, the Proclaimers re-recorded the song with English comedians Peter Kay and Matt Lucas for the UK's Comic Relief charity telethon, scoring a number one hit in the UK, outperforming their original UK singles performance.
Staying Alive (cover) - The Foundry
Well it's Saturday night, so of course you go all 70s disco. Well I would as I like a bit of disco, but here I am with this soulful play on the classic by the bee gees. for what ever reason there doesn't seem to be much about this group. But I like it, and here I am sharing it with yourselves.
------
"Stayin' Alive" is a disco song written and performed by the Bee Gees from the Saturday Night Fever motion picture soundtrack. The song was released on 13 December 1977 as the second single from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The band co-produced the song with Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson. It is one of the Bee Gees' signature songs. In 2004, "Stayin' Alive" was placed at number 189 on the list of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.[3] In 2004, it ranked No. 9 on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema. In a UK television poll on ITV in December 2011 it was voted fifth in "The Nation's Favourite Bee Gees Song".[4] On its release, "Stayin' Alive" climbed the charts to hit the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of 4 February 1978, remaining there for four weeks. In the process, it became one of the band's most recognisable tunes, in part because of its place at the beginning of Saturday Night Fever. In the US, it would become the second of six consecutive number-one singles, tying the record with the Beatles for most consecutive number ones in the US at the time (a record broken by Whitney Houston who achieved seven consecutive number-ones). ------

Stuck in the middle with you - Stealers Wheel (acoustic guitar live)
Found a few of these lone videos out there, where people have used software to make a video with them doing all the work. I enjoy it and I hope like me you enjoy this rendition. It seems the original artist has closed down the The Suburb account he was using, which is a shame as I can't accredit him.
-----
-----
"Stuck in the Middle" was released on Stealers Wheel's 1972 eponymous debut album.[6] Gerry Rafferty provided the lead vocals, with Joe Egan singing harmony. It was produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.[7] Rafferty's lyrics are a dismissive tale of a music industry cocktail party written and performed as a pastiche of Bob Dylan.[8]
The band was surprised by the single's chart success.[8] The single sold over one million copies, eventually peaking at number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, number 8 in the UK, and number 2 in Canada.[9]
The band appeared playing the song on BBC's Top of the Pops on 18 May 1973

Stevie Wonder - Superstition | Cover by The Moon Loungers
Saturday night and our lass is working late, so lets get our funk down with a Stevie Wonder song, amply covered by the moon loungers from Bristol. More renowned for their Beatles covers but this one hits the spot.
----
----
"Superstition" is a song by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder. It was released as the lead single from his fifteenth studio album, Talking Book (1972), by Tamla.[1] The song's lyrics are chiefly concerned with superstitions,[2] mentioning several popular superstitious fables throughout the song, and deal with the negative effects superstitious beliefs can bring.
It reached number one in the U.S.[2] and number one on the soul singles chart.[3] The song was Wonder's first number-one single since "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" and topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1973.[4]Overseas, it peaked at number eleven in the UK during February 1973. In November 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song at No. 74 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Stop The Cavalry (Jona Lewie) by Waar
Well after todays offering there will be just be 2 more versions to find. Yet again it proves with the software folks have these days, anyone can produce a decent video. I think the word "decent" though does understate this video. I would go to say it is "Most excellent" as a certain bogus time travellers would say. What are your thoughts?

Stop The Cavalry - Punk Rock Cover
For todays version of "Stop the Cavalry we have gone all punk, Great passion in this version today. It is also amazing to show what you can do these days, in the 80s this would have been a video put together with teams of people, it just shows what one person can do at home now with a good bit of software. Anyway enough of me, enjoy this version. feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section.

Mistle Tones - Driving Home For Christmas (Chris Rea cover)
Well, been having a nosey on the internet, when I should have been getting some jobs done. But hey that is how I am, fun now work, later or deferred till later still. Anyways, came across this great new cover of a Chris Rea classic Christmas song. Hopefully Chris will be getting better soon, and you will enjoy this.
----
"Driving Home for Christmas" is a popular Christmas single written and composed by Chris Rea and released in 1988.[1] The song peaked at #53 in the UK Single Chart in 1988, and re-entered the chart in 2007, peaking at #33. It reached a brand new peak of #23 in 2017.[1] Although it had modest charting, the single has a brief chart appearance every year in the Top 40,[2] and is featured among the Top 10 Christmas singles

We Cut Corners - Stop The Cavalry (Live for The Sunday Sessions)
Well as I mentioned yesterday I would find a different version of my favourite Christmas song on the run up to Christmas. Quite a differing twist on the song, what do you think of it?
----
----
The song peaked at number three in the UK Singles Chart in December 1980, at one point only being kept from number one by two re-issued songs by John Lennon, who had been murdered on 8 December.
In an interview for Channel 4's 100 Greatest Christmas Moments, Lewie said that the song was never intended as a Christmas hit, and that it was a protest song. The line 'Wish I was at home for Christmas' as well as the brass band arrangements made it an appropriately styled song to play around Christmas time.
